2 Clark Co. businesses broken into, suspects flee

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating two early Thursday break-ins at businesses less than 10 miles apart.

Deputies initially responded to Collier’s Family Restaurant on West First Street around 1:30 a.m. after they received an alarm at the business.

Once they arrived, investigators discovered a broken window. Deputies said a man broke out the window, climbed into the business and attempted to steal a safe from inside. The man was unsuccessful at stealing the 500 pound safe, according to deputies.

Deputies said they hope surveillance video from inside the restaurant will give them additional suspect information.

About an hour later, around 2:45 a.m., deputies received multiple reports of a break-in at Leen’s Carry Out & Bait on Mechanicsburg Road.

Deputies arrived to discover the front door of the business, 2447 Mechanicsburg Rd., broken out.

In both break-ins the suspects were able to escape.

Both cases are still under investigation and it’s unclear if the two cases are related.
