Caught on camera: Florida woman steals reporter's car

A Florida reporter investigating a possible property scam became the victim of a very different crime — carjacking.

According to WWSB ABC 7, a 91-year-old woman claimed she had responded to an ad to rent an 11-bedroom Siesta Key home. She later found that the home had only five bedrooms. She said she tried to get her money back, but the owners refused.

ABC 7 reporter Josh Taylor headed to the property to investigate. When he was setting up his tripod in a public road nearby, a woman came out of the house, grabbed his equipment and drove off in his car — all while the camera was rolling. Check out the raw video here:

The woman, identified by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office as Jean Price, is a friend of the homeowner, ABC 7 reported. The State Attorney's office will determine whether to charge her with grand theft auto, ABC 7 said.
