Workers 50 and older targeted in career fair at Nutter Center

Staff Report

Workers age 50 and older are the target audience for Tuesday’s Dayton’s Helping Experience Work@50+ Career Fair Series.

The career fair, being sponsored by AARP, EmploymentGuide.com and WiserWorker.com, is being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ervin J. Nutter Center at Wright State University, 3640 Colonel Glenn Highway.

Participating employers that will be represented during the career fair include health care, customer service, hospitality, finance, sales, insurance, skilled trades, transportation and security.

Workers age 50 and older are the targeted audience due to the fact that the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in 2000, 13 percent of the U.S. workforce was 55 and older, according to WiseWorker.com. The workforce statistic for workers 55 years old and older is expected to increase to 17 percent this year. AARP also reports that nearly seven out of 10 workers, age 45 to 74, tell AARP that they plan to work in some capacity in retirement.

For more information about the career fair, contact Amy Hoster at (602) 502-8803 or visit www.WiserWorker.com or EmploymentGuide.com.
