Steve Maurer will be the state executive director for the USDA Farm Service Agency in Ohio. Maurer began his duties on Sept. 8.

Previously, Maurer served as the chief of the division of natural areas and preserves for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources since 2007. He was the director of the agency in Ohio from 1993-01. Maurer was a state senator for the 12th District from 1981-84. While in the Senate, he served on various committees and chaired the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Small Business and Economic Development. Maurer graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor of science degree in education. After college, he served in the U.S. Army for three years. Maurer currently resides in Bexley, with his wife, Amy and their daughters Jen, Annelise and Sylvia.
