Staff Report

The Dayton area continues to garner coverage from the national media.

The latest publication to feature the Dayton area is The Atlantic magazine. On its website is a June 20 story titled “From Rust Belt to Drone Belt” by Ellen Ruppel Shell.

As the title implies, the story focuses on how the area is striving to become a center for unmanned aerial vehicle (drones) research and development following the demise of the once-dominant local automaking industry. Featured in the story are Adam Murka, director of communications for Sinclair Community College, and Steven Johnson, the college’s president.

The story has an uplifting tone to it and provides an outsider’s perspective on how the Dayton area is making the transition.
