Locally produced engines named among ‘best’

By Thomas Gnau

Two Honda engines produced in Anna, about an hour north of Dayton, were named to Ward’s “10 Best Engines” list for 2012, Honda said Wednesday.

Honda said the “Earth Dreams Technology” engines are found in the 2013 Accord. The engines come as the direct-injected 2.4-liter 4-cylinder model and a 3.5-liter V6 engine.

The 2013 Accord is manufactured in Ohio at Honda’s Marysville plant.

The Anna plant employs more than 2,400 workers and has produced more than 1 million engines so far this year for Honda vehicles assembled in Ohio, Indiana and Canada.

“Honda is first and foremost a motor company, and the new Earth Dreams Technology engines once again assert Honda’s desire to lead the industry in powertrain efficiency while providing responsive power and fun for drivers,” Art St. Cyr, American Honda vice president of product planning and logistics, said in a statement.
