Enon —

A local manufacturer celebrated the completion of a 51,000 square-foot expansion that will bring 50 new jobs to the area Friday.

Enon-based seepex Inc. manufactures progressive cavity pumps for the food, beverage and gas and fuel industries. The business has already starting hiring for the 50 new jobs, growing from about 90 employees to 110 employees since construction on the expansion started last fall.

The company currently has eight to 10 positions they are looking for now, said Kamran Mirza, director of Business Development and Public Relations for seepex Inc.

Completion of the expansion, which began last fall, has allowed the company to “significantly expand its workforce and retain jobs,” New Carlisle based building contractor Wenco, Inc., announced in a press release.

The $8 million expansion will allow the international business to make 80 percent of the company product, up from 20 percent. Production will grow from 3,500 pumps to 8,000 a year, according to Mirza.

The additional production should only add to seepex’s financial success. The company boasted an annual growth rate of 18 percent for several years now, said president Mike Dillon to the Springfield News-Sun.

This is seepex’s fourth expansion in 15 years. While the construction on the addition is complete, Dillon said the total renovation and equipment upgrade for the whole building may take up to three years.
