Heating and cooling business adds workers, customers

Ed’s Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electric, of Tipp City, is picking up where heating and cooling company Lynn’s Associate Services, of New Carlisle, has left off.

Julie Broerman, owner of Ed’s, has acquired Lynn’s customer roster and is retaining Lynn’s three employees, said Lori Klens, a spokeswoman for Ed’s.

Ed’s now has about 30 employees total, Klens said.

It’s the second acquisition for Ed’s since October 2009, when Ed’s combined with Wampler Plumbing. Klens said Ed’s has been able to step in when owners of other companies are looking to retire.

“The people that they (Ed’s) are acquiring are just planning on retiring, they are planning to close their doors,” Klens said.

Klens said she could not give a transaction price for the Lynn’s acquisition.

Ed’s was started in 1991 by Julie’s husband, Ed Broerman, who died of a heart attack at the age of 40 in 2007, Klens said. Julie Broerman left a previous job to carry on her husband’s business and legacy, Klens said.
