Farmer’s Market: Tripled vendors and food assistance program accepted in Urbana, six to eight more vendors added in St. Paris and 10 to 12 more in Mechanicsburg.
Community Garden: CIC leasing land for $12 per year.
Freedom Grove: Celebrating American freedom; countywide collaboration coordinated by Urbana Rotary Club.
Local School Districts: Ohio Department of Education Score Cards of 2 (excellent) and 3 (effective).
Ohio Hi-Point – South campus: Adult education classes on site in Urbana; high school satellite classes.
Teamwork: Kyle Hall – Dayton Development Coalition; Economic Development Team – city, county, state and private sector; YMCA – Safe Routes to School, Activate Champaign County, Mercy Hospital; Champaign County Chamber of Commerce – Leadership Academy.
Vision: C-TEC/Project HIRE/OJT – $78,000 to local employers and wage subsidy – 18 new hires; Grimes Field – Runway extension, aviation museum and addition of Care Flight.
Infrastructure: Building & Zoning – online forms, permits, regulations, etc.; Mechanicsburg – new sidewalks for Safe Routes to School; St. Paris – new Johnson-St. Paris Fire & EMS building, municipal building renovations and several storm sewer projects; Urbana – roundabout concrete improvements, utility extension to CT Communications and more.
Marketing – “Go Champaign”: Countywide branding; Ohio Magazine – Urbana “Best Hometown 2011”; American Farmland Trust – “America’s Favorite Farmer’s Market”; Green Magazine TV – Orbis, environmentally-friendly packaging.
