Director’s death prompts Teradata to reduce board size

By Staff Report

MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — The death of Peter Fiore, a director for Teradata Corp., has prompted the company to reduce its board from nine to eight directors, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Fiore, 52, died at his Massachusetts home on Dec. 19, the SEC filing states. He had been a director for Teradata since 2008. He was a member of the board’s compensation and human resource committee, according to the filing.

The company told the SEC it will temporarily waive a requirement to have three directors on the compensation committee and its board will reconsider committee assignments when it meets in February 2010.

Fiore had served as president and chief executive of Crossbeam Systems Inc. since 2007, according to Terdata’s latest proxy statement. Before that, he was an executive for IBM.
