Dayton airport cuts maximum daily rate in parking garage

Staff Report

DAYTON — Dayton International Airport, seeking to attract more customers to its year-old parking garage, has reduced its maximum daily rate for the garage to $15, from the prior $18.

The change took effect on Thursday. The new rate is more in alignment with daily rates of $12 to $14 at nearby long-term, surface parking lots.

The garage, which has 1,400 spaces on its top two floors with rental cars arrayed on the ground floor, is underused, aviation director Terrence G. Slaybaugh has said. He hopes to make the garage more appealing to business travelers, who account for about 60 percent of the airport’s passenger traffic.

Parking is projected to generate nearly $12 million of the airport’s anticipated $26 million in total revenues this year, Slaybaugh has said.
