MASON — Season pass holders to The Beach Waterpark won’t be getting refunds, but will receive more than $200 in “alternative experiences” at a number of area attractions.

The Beach Waterpark said Wednesday it’s entering into a partnership that will provide free or reduced admission to Kings Island, Coney Island, Countryside YMCA, Cincinnati Zoo, Morgan’s Outdoor Adventures, Ozone Zipline Adventures, Dave & Busters and Mason recreational facilities.

The water park is unable to issue refunds to its 8,500 season pass holders because it used the season pass revenue to support off-season operations and invest in the park, according to Ralph Vilardo Jr., authorized spokesman on behalf of The Beach Waterpark.

The Beach Waterpark announced March 9 that it would shut down for the 2012 season, citing low attendance, the poor economy and competition as the reasons for the closure.

Standard season passes to The Beach Waterpark retailed for between $44.99 and $89.99, depending on when the offer was made, he said. The total retail value of the free pass offers, not including discounted offers, is approximately $200, Vilardo said.

That was no consolation to Cheryl Niesz of Ross Twp., who said she worked 12-hour shifts at her previous job to afford a $255 buy-one, get-one free deal on Beach Waterpark platinum season passes for her and 11-year-old son Dakota.

Niesz, who wants a full refund, said she called the Ohio Attorney’s General’s Office on Wednesday to file a complaint.

“I don’t want to go anywhere else,” she said. “I wanted to go there. I’m not happy at all.”

Offers to season pass holders started Thursday and include:

• One free day pass to Kings Island and the opportunity to purchase a Gold pass at a reduced price.

• A one-time discount good toward the Mason Community Center, Lou Eves Municipal Pool or the Grizzly Golf Course.

• Two free Sunlite Pool & Classic Rides combo tickets at Coney Island.

• A free one-week family pass to Countryside YMCA in Lebanon and discounted membership fee.

• Reduced admission to the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.

• Buy-one, get-one-free weekday rental at Morgan’s Outdoor Adventures.

• Discounted pricing for zipline tours at Ozone Zipline Adventures in Turtlecreek Twp.

• A credit with purchase of a PowerCard at Dave & Busters.
