Abbott Laboratories will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for its new nutrition manufacturing facility in Tipp City.

Abbott officials said the company will invest $270 million and employ about 240 people at the facility, bringing new infrastructure and jobs to Miami County. The plant will manufacture two of Abbott’s fastest-growing liquid nutrition brands, Ensure and Glucerna, for the North American market.

Tipp City this month approved an incentive package worth more than $1.2 million to allow Abbott to continue building its plant on South County Road 25A. The incentives, which will cost the city $1,229,190, include building an East-West access road on the south side of the Abbott lot.

Abbott and Ohio officials were scheduled speak today at the 10:20 a.m. groundbreaking event.

Abbott’s world headquarters are in north Chicago and its U.S. headquarters are in Columbus. The company employs approximately 91,000 people and markets its products in more than 130 countries.
