Barn fire creates smoke seen for miles

There were no reported injuries from a barn fire on Federal Road.

Just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, calls were coming into the Greene County Sheriff’s office of thick black smoke rising east of downtown Xenia.

Fire crews and deputies converged to the intersection of Federal Road at Old Route 35. Upon arrival, crews were able to quickly assess this was an old barn being dismantled which had caught fire.

Fire fighters had the fire under control in a relatively short time.
