Accused trigger man in Thanksgiving Day robbery-slaying pleads guilty

A 21-year-old man is to be sentenced in May for his role in a Thanksgiving Day robbery-slaying.

Marquevous Watkins pleaded guilty Monday to murder with a gun specification, according to Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart.

The sentence for Watkins is a mandatory 18 years to life in prison for killing Jeff Brentlinger. Watkins had been accused of breaking into Brentlinger’s home with another man on Thanksgiving Day morning in an attempt to rob him.

Part of the confrontation was captured on a video camera.

Prosecutors have said they believe Watkins fired the shot that killed Brentlinger.
