Springfield's Dutra in stable condition after crash

SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield man injured in a practice session wreck at Shady Bowl Speedway on Saturday, April 26, is recovering at Miami Valley Hospital.
Rob Dutra, an Ohio Valley Dwarf Car Association driver, was transported to the hospital by helicopter after a crash left him unconscious.

Get latest headlines via RSS feedsDutra was in the Intensive Care Unit until Tuesday. He's currently in stable condition and is alert and talking. He will be held a few more days for re-evaluation.
"He seems to be bouncing back pretty well," said Rob's wife, Dawn Dutra.
Dawn Dutra said her husband suffered bleeding on the brain in three spots, but is able to walk after the accident.
"The fact that he knows who family members are and that he's independent is a good sign," Dawn Dutra said.
The accident occurred coming out of turn four at Shady Bowl. Cambride City, Ind., driver Charlie Luper also suffered a fractured tailbone in the accident.
