All in the family: Homan commits to play football at Ohio State with brother
Junior was mainly a linebacker on Coldwater's state title team; might be a fullback for the Buckeyes.

COLDWATER — Planning for fall Saturdays in 2009 got a lot easier for David and Alice Homan. Their son, Adam Homan, gave his verbal commitment earlier this week to play football at Ohio State University. His brother Ross is a sophomore linebacker with the Buckeyes.
"Both sides of my family are huge Buckeyes fans. Everyone is pretty happy for me," said Adam. "They don't even question whether I'm going to commit or not (to OSU), it's when are you going to commit. I have a great support system here."

Homan, a junior at Coldwater High School, is expected to play fullback for Ohio State. Ohio High magazine recruiting editor Duane Long said that's a perfect fit for the 6-foot-2, 230-pounder. Long anticipates Homan giving the fullback a more prominent role in the offense.
"When I first saw him, I thought, 'He's a great athlete, but where does he fit?' " said Long. "I love (his choice of OSU) because I see an opportunity to put the skill back at fullback. ... It's such a need position. Fullback has been relegated to a nonscholarship position. They went out and got him and went after him early. When they offer someone right after their junior year, they are sure about him."
Homan left a lasting impression on many — including opponents — last season. His 128 tackles tied for team-high honors as the Cavaliers won the Division IV state title. On offense, Homan rushed 18 times for 55 yards and two touchdowns on the season and caught eight passes for 28 yards and another score.
He's the fifth player in the Buckeyes' 2009 recruiting class.
"It was just a matter of feeling it out, taking it in and seeing if this was the place I wanted to go," said Homan, whose first cousins are former Buckeyes Bob and Tom Hoying.
"Obviously, with connections to my brother, I got a lot of information that way. I figured this was the place I wanted to go. ... Just the tradition they have there. Football is everything. Watching Script Ohio before the games, that's one of my favorite parts about Ohio State."
