TROTWOOD — The school board on June 19 approved a trip for the Trotwood-Madison High School football team to play in Dallas, Texas.

The Rams will play Bowie High School of Arlington, Texas, at 8 p.m. Aug. 30 as part of the Texas High School Showcase at Texas Stadium.

The athletic department has received a $30,000 appearance fee from Chicago-based Intersport Inc., organizer of the event. The appearance fee will cover the trip's cost. In an e-mail to Diana Whitt, the district's treasurer, athletic director James Ladd said the total cost for the trip would be $29,165 for 50 students and 10 adults.

The team would leave Aug. 29 and return Aug. 31, spending two nights in a Dallas-area hotel.

The format has seven Texas teams taking on seven teams from around the country. The three-day event is expected to draw 60,000-70,000 fans.

The other Texas teams are Timberview of Mansfield; Cedar Hill; Northwest of Justin; Trinity of Euless; Klein Oak of Spring; and Heritage of Colleyville.

ESPN ranked Trinity No. 21 in the nation last year.

The other out-of-state teams are Buford, Ga.; LaSalle Catholic of Cincinnati; Ruston, La.; John Curtis of River Ridge, La.; Mandeville, La.; and Clovis East of Clovis, Calif.
