Thursday, June 26, 2008

XENIA — The Kiwanis Club of Xenia is holding its annual summer picnic, on June 29, starting at 5 pm.

Ray Foster's Greene County Adult Concert Band will begin performing around 6:30 p.m. in the Shawnee Park Pavilion in Shawnee Park, two blocks north of the court house.

Three popular candidates are competing to be the guest conductor for a popular musical selection after intermission. Each dollar donated to the Loren B. McNeal scholarship fund will count as one vote for your favorite candidate.  Loren McNeal was a vocal teacher at Xenia High School and member of the Kiwanis Club for more than 50 years.

The three candidates are Wendell Cultice, a member of the Xenia Kiwanis Club, Harry Johns, a member of Rotary and Alan King, a Xenia business owner.

Ticket prices are $8 for adults

Children 6-12 for $4

Children under 6 are free

The meal includes a barbecued beef or pork sandwich, potato salad, cole slaw, chips for children, iced tea or lemonade. Crosscreek Bar BQ is catering the picnic.
