Mary Owens, 49, 741 Mohawk Drive, died Friday while at Miami Valley Hospital where she had been taken following the Wednesday afternoon crash.

A 1994 GMC semi driven by Gary Peters, 72 , of Michigan was driving north on Ohio 54 through the intersection with U.S. 40 when a 2002 Ford Focus, driven by Owens westbound on U.S. 40, struck it, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.

An 18-year-old Springfield woman reported being sexually assaulted, June 18.

The woman reported meeting a man on the Internet, and agreeing to meet him that night in Springfield. She said that after they drove around and visited a park, the man gave her a drink she thought was vodka.

drug possession

Brock T. Lubbers of 5230 Taywell Dr. was arrested on charges of possession of drugs and tampering with evidence Wednesday June 18, according to a sheriff's report.

A deputy responding to report of a loud party followed a speeding vehicle from the party. When the vehicle stopped the deputy witnessed Lubbers, the driver and another passenger exit the vehicle.

When he was patting Lubbers down the deputy noticed a scale bulging in his front pocket. A search of Lubbers's pockets and wallet turned up two plastic bags containing marijuana and a small bag of cocaine.

The 16-year-old driver and the driver's mother told the officer that the drugs belonged to Lubbers and that he was attempting to get rid of them as they drove down the road.

Lubbers, who denied that any of the drugs were his, was charged and ordered into Clark County Municipal Court.
