URBANA — The Ohio Historical Society announced Monday, May 5, that it has reached a 15-year agreement with the Cedar Bog Association to manage the Cedar Bog Nature Preserve near Urbana.

The society, facing a $2 million budget deficit for the 2009 fiscal year, began restructuring its site system operations in April. That included finding a manager for Cedar Bog Nature Preserve, Museum of Ceramics in East Liverpool, Statehouse Education & Visitors Center in Columbus and Tallmadge Church in Tallmadge.
Cedar Bog joins 25 society sites managed by local groups or state agencies. Under the agreement, the society will pay the association $8,000 a year to manage day-to-day operations of the preserve.
