Most of my best memories are from SHS. I will never forget the friends I made, I am still best friends with Mary, since 1988. I will remember all the great teachers I had. I will never forget all the football games, pep rallys, and all the school dances I attended. Oh and Mr. Norman telling me stories when he had my mother as a student. LOL GO WILDCATS! Class of “92”

I have so many fond memories of NORTH, and so many great friends I still keep in touch with. One of my fondest memories was the energy in the air on Fridays during football season, especially in 1977 when the new stadium was to be dedicated. The pep rallies, the lockers of the football players decorated by the cheerleaders, and my first Homecoming are all still fresh in my mind. I was a Panther, my parents were Wildcats, but we are all “Springfielders”.

I think he moved 2 the high school from Clark 2 keep an eye on his favorite students! SHS will always hold special memories 4me!

As a member of the NORTH HIGH class of 1981, there are just too many wonderful memories to list them all! My sophomore year was definitely the BEST year of high school! From beginning my first year on drill team as one of the only 4 sophomores to make the squad (which was the BEST drill team ever!),to being in band & choir, and even performing in Bye Bye Birdie my senior year, high school was a time of great friendships old & new. The class of ‘81 was the “Best of Times”!

I am a member of the North High School class of 1965. It just seems that is impossible now that our class could now be this old too. Reflecting on the education we received there compared with my peers later in college, I realized we got a very good education that prepared me well for my college years. There is sadness that our North High School as we knew it will be gone and we are left only with our memories.

I met my ex man at North and we had 3 beautiful girls together. Even though we aren’t together anymore and have both moved on. I won’t forget the good times we had there. All the games. The crazy teachers, just the every day fun of being a teenager.

There are too many fond memories at SHS for me to mention. However, one of the memories, Ms. Alvilda Todd. She was hard on a lot of us, but we are better people because of her. Just thinking about her puts a smile on my face. I will always be a Springfield South High Wildcat. Class of 1971!!!

The best times I had at North were my times in Block “N”. The bus trips and the friendships were the best. That was what you called a cheerin section. Maybe the new school can get back to that.

I went to North and I must say my favorite memory was the sports i played. I played Football, I wrestled and i threw shotput and discus for the track team. i can say that my coaches were very influential, the most influential was my Assistant Wrestling Coach, Coach Shuman he taught me never to give up and he coached me through every match win or lose he was there to teach on the mat and in the classroom. He’s the only coach i didnt want to beat up hes my friend and im gonna miss him next year.

Two athletic events to remember. The North/South basketball game at Wittenberg. South was leadng by a point and a few seconds remaining on the clock. North took the inbounds and literally threw the ball at the basket from half court and there was no way the ball was going to go in, but South was called for goal tending and North won the game on a wild ending. The other event was the football game when Jimmy West returned at punt against South and North won. South finished the season 9-1.

I have many great and fond memories from North but the highlight of my high school years was when I played against my brother, Donovan Nolcox who graduated from South in ’79 in the annual North vs. South Football Game two years in a row. I graduated from North in ’80. As far as we know, no brothers ever played against each other as starters for both teams, and as All-County and All-WOL selections. We also had district and regional honors. It was historical for the rivalry and the city and it was something in our home too! Our parents would switch sides of the stadium during halftimes. The weeks leading up to the game were always intense. Our teammates, friends and neighbors always did something to keep things crazy and exciting. We were in the paper and on TV. One year, they brought us out of the locker rooms and we were interviewed on the field right before kickoff. And North won my sophomore and junior years! Sorry, bro, had to get that in there…

My best memory was always the Troy Relays. The athletes from North and South would always make camp together underneath the stadium. We would play cards, laugh, talk, go to the concession stand together. We were friends and respected each other tremendously. We cheered for each other and congratulated each other after an event. It is laways fun to see each other and talk to this day. Remember the cinder tracks.

I grew up right down the street from South in the 70s. I was so excited when the band would practice on Clifton Ave. To this day I still love a marching band. We used the hill on Clifton to sled down and played in every nook and cranny of the outside of that school. Tag on the Limestone street steps AND climbing on the roof and up to the dome. Dangerous I know but exhilerating. Didn’t like the riots after the basketball games between North and South though. Very scary. We played alot of games.

The early 1950’s at SHS were epic in sports. Jack Sallee and his fantastic outside jump shots on the basketball court and Coach Jim MacDonald’s really great football teams are the things that have stayed with me all these years. I was a sophomore in 1950.

I have a lot of good memories of my years at South, but I think that the best ones are of the friendships that were formed during that time. Not only were they friends then, but they have become lifetime ones. Even though I had lost touch with many, I have been fortunate to remain close to those who have made me who I am today.
My parents, brother, sisters and I all graduated from South High. I am proud of that and I will always be a Wildcat!

There are so many wonderful memories that I have at South. I loved getting ready for track meets but what I loved most of all was the week before the Southvs. North football game. As a school we would compete against one another to see who had the most spirit. The pep rallies that week were awesome and the best part was Friday night when we celebrated our win all four years I was there. The class of 2000 was a great class and I will always be a wildcat at heart.

There are a lot of great memories, North was a WONDERFUL school! Being part of the Block N cheering section & cheering on our football & basketball teams…ESPECIALLY in 1971 & 1972 when the basketball team went to the regionals! Last week when the North kids invited the alumni to come back & be part of their last musical, “Footloose”. We had a blast! The kids were fun, friendly & EXTREMELY talented! I am so glad to have gotten the chance to be a part of North once again, if only for a week.
