A memorial service and celebration of the life of pilot Jim LeRoy will be 11 a.m. Aug. 8 at the DuPage County Airport, 2700 International Drive, West Chicago, Ill.
LeRoy, 46, was killed Saturday when his modified 400-horsepower Bulldog Pitts biplane crashed at the Vectren Dayton Air Show at Dayton International Airport after he failed to pull his plane out of an aerobatic dive.
Extras
Those planning to attend the service are encouraged by the International Council of Air Shows to send a brief RSVP message to icas@airshows.org.
In lieu of flowers, LeRoy's friends and family are asking that contributions be directed to a scholarship fund being set up in the name of his son, 4-year-old Tommy LeRoy.
Vectren, as announced during Sunday's air show, will make the first contribution to the memorial fund.
Contributions should be directed to the Jim LeRoy Jr. Memorial Fund, in care of Harris Bank, 110 E. Irving Park Road, Roselle, IL 60172.
Any questions regarding the fund should be directed to bank representative Nancy Little at (630) 980-2700.
