Avetec hires Wahl, Wright State grad
Avetec, the computer modeling and simulation research firm located at 30 Warder St., has hired Ed Wahl and Sarah Ammar.
Wahl joins Avetec as the senior level systems administrator for the company's Data Intensive Computing Environment program.
Wahl will work with the DICE team on the high performance computing storage initiatives defined as priorities by the United States Department of Defense.
He brings extensive experience in high performance computing and storage and networking; Wahl has worked for SGI, Cray, AT&T Bell Labs, APR of Ohio, IBM and The Ohio State University.
Ammar joins Avetec as a full-time communication specialist and will support the company's research and education programs.
A recent Wright State University graduate, Ammar has been with the company for three years as a part-time employee.
Bank to open Springfield branch
Merchants National Bank will open a Springfield Branch later this summer at 3473 E. National Road. The full-service office with offer drive-through service and a drive-up ATM.
Merchants spokesperson Wilma Coulter said the Springfield office will be staffed with area residents to help the company retain its focus on "local people, local decisions and local commitment."
Originally chartered in Hillsboro in 1879, Merchants has assets of $400,000,000 and operates locations in London, Greenfield, Washington Courthouse, Mt. Orab and three branches in Hillsboro.
Home health provider wins award
Cambridge Home Health Care has been awarded a three-year certificate of accreditation for its 28 Ohio offices from the Community Health Accreditation program, Inc. The company operates a Springfield location at 2628 East Main Street.
CHAP conducts on-site surveys to evaluate the quality of community home health care practices and measures delivery of quality services.
