If you're already a fan of Tyler Perry's work, you'll enjoy this film version of his popular play about a good wife (Kimberly Elise) who learns how to cope on her own and finds her faith renewed after being kicked around and then kicked out of the house by her selfish husband (Steve Harris). Those unfamiliar with Perry's stage gospel plays may find the movie's broad style and its abrupt transitions from high melodrama to low-comedy shenanigans jarring.
