Camp Kirkwood seeks support from alumni

A camp celebrating its 50th year in operation is looking for people who have attended camps and events there.

Kirkwood Camp and Conference Center on Ohio 73 in Wilmington has been a summer camp spot for thousands of people throughout Southwest and Central Ohio since 1963. It recently became a 501(c)(3) federally recognized non-profit organization and has created a contributions program called "Friends of Kirkwood."

The Christian camping facility operates a lodge, cabins, pavilion, swimming pool, canoeing and fishing lake, archery trail and more.

In the summer of 2012, a bathhouse on the property was struck by lightning and burned down. No one was injured.

The camp is seeking volunteers to aid in the construction of a new lodge and bathhouse in its place.

Those who would like to be updated on the progress of construction, events at the camp or make donations are asked to visit www.campkirkwood.net or "like" its page at facebook.com/kirkwood.camp.
