Scooter, briefly world's oldest living cat, dead at 30

The world’s oldest cat had a very long life, but a short reign as titleholder.

Scooter, a 30-year-old Siamese cat, made headlines in May when it was announced that Guinness had awarded him the title of world’s oldest living cat.

But just days later, Scooter’s owner, Gayle Floyd, revealed that Scooter had died before Guinness conferred the title on April 9.

Scooter celebrated his 30th birthday on March 26, according to The Associated Press. Floyd attributed Scooter's longevity to staying active. The cat traveled extensively and enjoyed treats like chicken.

The world’s oldest cat ever was also from Texas. Creme Puff lived to be 38 years old.
