ITHACA, N.Y. — Jeremy Hazell scored 33 points to lead Seton Hall to an 89-79 win over Cornell on Friday night.
Jordan Theodore added 20 points for the Pirates (3-0), while Herb Pope chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Cornell took an early 8-0 lead, as the Pirates began the game shooting 0-for-4 from the field and missing two free throws. But Seton Hall quickly responded with an 8-0 run of their own, and a layup from Theodore with 14:07 remaining in the half tied the game at 8.
After leading 40-35 at halftime, Seton Hall went on a 10-0 run in the second half to take a 58-40 lead after a layup by John Garcia with 11:57 remaining. During the run, Cornell went scoreless for more than 5 minutes.
Ryan Wittman led the Big Red (2-1) with 24 points, and Chris Wroblewski added 22.
The Pirates outrebounded Cornell 40-31.
