Cat finds way home after 11 days, 2 broken legs

SPRING HILL, Fla. — Down two legs, and who knows how many lives, a Florida cat missing 11 days somehow arrived home. Tracie Steger lost hope after search parties and fliers failed to turn up her beloved Giggle-Blizzard. She winced after hearing a car had hit a kitty, and raced to scare off a vulture with a suspicious whisker in its teeth.

Neither was him.

But on Thanksgiving night, a yelp from the porch was.

A car had smashed his back legs a week ago, but Giggle-Blizzard somehow got back. He knew the area from walking unleashed with Steger's seven other cats and two dogs.

After two operations he's back in Steger's menagerie, sporting Christmas-colored splints.

It cost $3,000, but Steger can't contain her joy.

$3000? Did the cat get artificial limbs? Donor limbs? Weeks of rehab? I know vets have to make a buck, too, BUT how many hours was the surgery? How many days was it at the vet's? Was there a registered vet tech who stayed and monitored it? (Chances are it was a McDonald drop-out, if anyone.) There are too many money-hungry grubbers taking advantage of situations like this instead of showing an ounce of compassion! What a rip!!!

Have you ever ran over a cat ?
I have and it was dark and our own cat. I did not even realize it until later. I felt horrible. It just felt like a bump in the road. I am not saying it is ok to leave but the driver may not even know he or she hit it. It may have ran or crawled off too.
Glad the cat is home and living.
Cats need to be supervised also, they should not be left out alone. That is not a responsible pet owner and it would be the owners own fault. Hopefully they learned a lesson.

"Gee, wasn't that nice of the person who hit the cat to just leave it? This is why I like animals better than people".....the article says the cat knew the area because it had walked that way before UNLEASHED. Yes the car should have stopped...but the owner needs to be more responsible and not let their cat roam freely. And you never know. The car might have stopped and the cat could have been agressive (especially if injured) or maybe it ran off.
