Corwin Georges, chairman of the Wittenberg University theater and dance department, has been named one of eight winners of the 2009 Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio.
Winners were selected from 103 nominations submitted by individuals and organizations throughout the state.
Citing his leadership and creativity to advance arts education, Georges, a Springfield resident, is the winner of the 2009 Arts Education award.
The awards will be presented at a luncheon April 1 at the Columbus Athenaeum.
The winners will receive an original work of art by another Clark County resident — New Carlisle painter Jean Koeller.
