SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Gregor Mendel might have proven all he needed to about genetics with a photo of Jane Newton and Diane Ericksen standing amidst the flowers near the fountain at the entrance to Wittenberg University.
The two who are so obviously mother and daughter will help the Wittenberg Guild serve up fashions family style at its 53rd annual Scholarship Style Show on Nov. 8 at the Center Dining Room in the Benham-Pence Student Center.
Another mother and daughter — Lorann Rue and Nikki Turner — are chairing "A Stylish Family Affair," at 10 a.m. with a social hour and silent auction of theme baskets donated by members and friends of the guild.
Other families with Wittenberg connections also will model the fashions.
The brunch and style show will begin at 11:30 a.m. with fashions from Macy's at Tuttle Crossing and Grissom's Bridal and Tux Shop, accessorized with jewelry from Goldesign. Lynn Jacques of Macy's will narrate.
The event also will feature:
• A raffle with a gold and murano glass bracelet from Goldesign.
• A spa day from Mallia Salon and Day Spa.
• A crystal lamp from Pemberley and Plum.
• A P.Buckley Moss Christmas print framed by Frame Haven Gallery.
• Dinner for two at Seasons Bistro.
• A winter dance party at the Clark State Performing Arts Center.
The Wittenberg Guild is a women's organization that since 1992 has raised $925,000 for scholarship support, campus landscaping, sculptures and artwork for the student center, renovation of the Ann Miller Gallery in Koch Hall and pianos for Krieg Hall. Its scholarship funds serve students from Clark and its contiguous counties.
