5 search warrants executed

Task force targeted illegal gambling and income tax violations.

Law enforcement officers from southern Ohio, including federal authorities, executed five simultaneous search warrants Saturday afternoon, March 1, in an investigation involving illegal gambling and federal income tax violations.

According to information from the Clark County Sheriff's Office, five search warrants were executed at about 1:30 p.m. Four were in Montgomery County and one was executed in Clark County near Lower Valley Pike.

No arrests were made Saturday, but several people are expected to be charged, according to information from the sheriff's office.

The investigation involved illegal gambling, racketeering, money laundering and federal tax violations throughout southern Ohio.

The warrants were executed by officers from the Tactical Crime Suppression Unit, Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigations, the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Perry, Clay and German Township police, and the Ohio Attorney General's Office.

The Tactical Crime Suppression Unit includes police officers from eight Montgomery County suburbs.
