Leadership Clark County accepting applications
Leadership Clark County will host the Community Leadership Academy 2009. Participants will gain critical insight into topics such as Clark County's history, educational systems, social services, criminal justice system, economy, government, and the arts through eight daylong sessions. The program's objective is to continuously develop capable, knowledgeable and motivated individuals to assume leadership and community service roles in our community. Session topics are: call to service, Clark County, current challenges, the concept of servant leadership, the past, present and future of our community and providing required board governance skills. These goals help citizens get involved in Clark County, they contribute to improving the quality of life in our community, and they position Leadership Clark County as a catalyst for improving all community nonprofit organizations.
The academy kicks off with the "Amazing Race" Clark County Thursday, Sept. 18. The remaining seven sessions are held the third Thursday of each month from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $795 and includes all instruction, session materials, breakfast and lunch, a bus tour and graduation dinner in March.
Applications for the academy can be obtained by calling 328-6120 or visiting leadershipclarkcounty.org Applicants who do not have a sponsor may apply for a limited number of partial scholarships. Application deadline is August 8.
