Rebecca Tara Swartz Rebecca Tara Swartz Tara is DON at the facility my mother is a nurse. My mother went to work there because Tara went there. Since Tara Came to Dayview they have become deficiency free (8 years) and are ranked in the top 10 in the state of Ohio. This is truly an accomplishment in this era! Tara is the most caring, selfless person we have ever known and taught her staff to give only top notch care. Even as she herself has been stricken with ALS and is rapidly declining it is the care of her residents that she is putting first. She is not really able to talk but is letting everyone know that expects the level of care and respect to continue in her absence. There are not words to tell you what a wonderful, passionate, superior nurse Tara Swartz is. Tara demonstrates compassion everyday she works, she is our DON. When we have a resident who is dying, she sits with them, giving them comfort when there loved one can't be there with them. She spends countless hours working with families, helping them understand the disease process of their loved one, advocating for them constantly. Most DON's seldom leave their office, Tara knows everything that goes on in our facility, she will help the staff when needed, and is always on hand to help a resident. She makes sure these residents have a wonderful Christmas and that each resident receives a gift. She gives of her own personal time, resources and money to provide excellent care. She has strong clinical skills, and makes sure her nurses also have them, providing in-services when necessary. She treats her staff, residents, and family with utmost respect. At the present time, she is suffering from ALS, and continues to work, caring her portable oxygen tank with her, and always smiling no matter how bad she feels. And yes, she still spends a lot of time on the floor attending to her staff and residents. She is truly a nurse to be saluted. Rebecca Swartz or (Tara) as her nursing staff knows her is our director of nursing. She demands excellence in nursing care. Since I have known her she puts in 12 hour days. She cares for every resident in our facility. Tara comes in early and stays late making sure that every resident in our facility is cared for in the best way possible. She is on top of all the problems that come up in everyday affairs. She asks that no member of her staff do anything that she is not willing to do herself. She answers lights, feeds residents, changes incontinent residents, encourages families and encourages staff. This might seem not out of the ordinary except for the past four years she continues to do all this while combating an incurable illness, Lou Gehrig's disease. This most amazing employee never complains. Her work ethics are beyond anything one can imagine. She has continued to have perfect state surveys through all her problems. She is the most unselfish nurse I have ever had the privilege to work with and I am proud to nominate Tara for this award. |
