Stacey Swank

Stacey Swank
Good Samaritan Hospital - ACU/CVCU

If you asked Stacey Swank how long she has been a nurse, she would have a quick comeback, saying forever or a hundred years. The fact is that she is a seasoned nurse that loves her job and gives 110% every time she is at work. She does what she needs to when it needs to be done. She works well with others and that includes the doctors. She’s the person I want beside me if there is an emergency and the person that shows up just when I was looking for someone to help with a turn or a clean up. She has a sixth sense when a patient is going bad and rapidly works to fix the problem. She goes where she’s needed; even floating to our sister unit (CVCU) mid-shift if there is a need. Stacey’s sense of humor is what makes her so unique. It is a pleasure to work with her. When Stacey is on duty, the staff is comfortable and is confident we can handle anything that is thrown our way. Even the physicians are confident that things will run smoothly when Stacey is on duty. Stacy is a natural leader and problem solver. A recent example is demonstrated by her development of a "wound cart" for staff and physicians to use when changing complex dressings, inserting chest tubes, or performing a thoracentesis or pleurocentesis. Stacey had observed on multiple occasions that staff would need to leave the room for extra supplies. This led to staff, patient and physician dissatisfaction because of delays. Stacey developed a cart that has all the supplies in one place and can be taken to the room where the procedure/treatment is being performed. This act demonstrates how Stacey is in-tune with the needs of all the customers we service. The nursing unit has received several compliments on our insightful and resourceful measures. As a charge nurse, Stacey oversees the needs of the unit and works hard to keep the patient flow moving in the right direction. She follows through with patient needs in a timely manner, shares knowledge, information and expertise. I am honored to work with such a person as Stacey. She is a great example of an Excellent Nurse.
