On March 23, 2007 we brought our one-year-old son into the emergency room and he was admitted for dehydration and later rotavirus disease (this was found because of Alys). Alys was there for us for anything that we needed. When she spoke to our son it was so calming and smooth. She treated him like she would her own child. The doctor that came to assess our son wanted to give him a medication that had a side effect that could lower the heart rate. Alys was concerned because his was already low enough so she investigated and found another medicine. To us that is AMAZING!!!! We appreciated that more than words can express. When we were not able to understand the doctor sometimes, Alys would explain everything in "lehman" terms. To sum Alys Fleckenstein as a nurse: WOW, AMAZING, COMPASSIONATE, LOVING, CONCERNED, LOYAL, and TRUSTWORTHY. This is the BEST nurse we have ever seen!!! If we could have told you more about our stay at the hospital, you would know why she is an amazing nurse and why I say she went above and beyond her job. ALYS FLECKENSTEIN DESERVES THIS AWARD!
