SPRINGFIELD — From 48 years and thousands of athletes, we've chosen 10.
The Top 10 male athletes from North and South high schools have proven their worth in multiple sports over several generations. They've proven their skills beyond high school, excelling at college and for some, the professional ranks. They've played for the Boston Patriots, Cincinnati Royals and Cleveland Browns.
Extras
North and South will close their doors May 20. Springfield High School opens in September. To honor the history of North and South, we've selected the Top 10 male and female athletes for each school.
We didn't choose our Top 10 athletes out of a hat. A committee of respected school representatives helped us select these athletes.
Today, May 16, we're publishing male athletes Nos. 2 through 10. On Thursday we did the same for the female athletes. We'll publish the complete lists in the Springfield News-Sun's weekend editions.
