URBANA — Tracy Lawrence you know.
The McClymonts?
You will.
Lawrence is set to play the Champaign County Fair on Monday, with the McClymonts opening.
The Australian sister trio of Brooke, Samantha and Mollie McClymont relocated to Nashville just this past June to establish what can only be presumed is a forward operating base from which to conquer this country.
The country-pop gals have been named best group four years straight at the Australian Country Music Awards, which leads you to believe they could be the biggest Aussie import since Keith Urban.
They’ll release the album “Wrapped Up Good” stateside on Aug. 23. (The group’s second album, it came out last year Down Under and spawned four straight No. 1 singles.)
As for Lawrence, who last played Kuss Auditorium in Springfield in 2004, it’s best to expect the unexpected.
A seminal figure from country’s early ’90s popularity explosion, Lawrence always pops back up just when you think he’s gone the way of Tracy Byrd.
He hit No. 1 in 2007 with the alternate version of “Find Out Who Your Friends Are,” featuring Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney.
The song also was named musical event of the year at the CMA Awards.
