Springfield’s John Legend to release latest album

Springfield native John Legend continues his whirlwind year as the release of his album “Darkness and Light” hits shelves and digital stores on Friday.

The multiple-Grammy and Academy Award winner has used social media to publicize the album.

Legend held a Facebook Live Q&A where he performed an acoustic version of “Love Me Now,” the first single off of the album and took questions from his followers on music, parenthood and life.

Legend also performed the acoustic version during his concert for the unveiling of the John Legend Theater in Springfield.

On top of the release of his album, the film “La La Land,” Legend’s acting debut, will premiere in theaters on Dec. 9, with the film already creating a loud Golden Globe and Oscar buzz.

Legend plays the band leader Keith in the film. Legend also co-wrote the film’s feature song “Start a Fire.”
