SPRINGFIELD — Stuart Secttor, the executive director of the Clark State Performing Arts Center, recently was presented with two numbers.
The first was 27,000 — the amount of square feet at Clark State’s two-month-old Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center.
The second was 80.
“Eighty percent of executives in Clark County live elsewhere,” he said. “Even if it’s half right, it’s pretty impressive.”
With Clark State’s new series, Wine Down Thursdays, Secttor hopes to lure some of that 80 percent to the new 27,000-square-foot center.
Aiming to keep people downtown for a little while longer after work, Secttor has planned four events between next week and April.
“It’s good schmooze time,” he said.
The $10 ticket — available at pac.clarkstate.edu or by calling (937) 328-3874 — includes one beverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. and then a 45-minute show at 5:30 p.m.
“And, yes,” he said, “the bar will remain open.”
Here’s the schedule for Wine Down Thursdays at the new Creative Arts and Conference Center:
• Oct. 27 — Wild Carrot
The Cincinnati Americana duo of Pam Temple and Spencer Funk has undertaken two tours of Chile as cultural ambassadors on behalf of the State Department.
• Nov. 17 — Mieka Pauley
The alt-rock singer-songwriter has played shows with the Avett Brothers, KT Tunstall, Natasha Bedingfield and Springfield’s own John Legend.
• March 8 — Lisa Biales
The jazzy folk singer from Oxford, had a song, “I Believe,” featured on the CW show “Girlfriends.”
She’s also an actress, appearing in Francis Ford Coppola’s new horror flick, “Twixt.”
• April 12 — Ventriloquist-comedian Lynn Trefzger
Along with Jeff Dunham, Trefzger was featured in the 2009 documentary “I’m No Dummy.”
