Legend goes Home School with record label

Monday, October 23, 2006

John Legend — talent scout?

The homegrown three-time Grammy-winner is ready to launch his own record label, Home School Records.

The label will be much like Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music, which farms out talent to companies such as Sony for distribution.

Legend said the first artist under his Home School banner will be a British singer-songwriter and rapper named Estelle.

Through Legend, she recently signed with Atlantic Records.

After Estelle, though, Legend will put the home in Home School with R&B singer Vaughn Anthony.

That would be former North High hoops star Vaughn Stephens, his younger brother.

Legend said they're waiting to get a deal for Vaughn Anthony until they can polish up his demo.
