Owner of Ohio’s largest greenhouse farm announces expansion

The parent company of Ohio's largest greenhouse farm announced that it will expand its presence into Vancouver British Columbia.

Red Sun Farms announced it will build a new distribution center in Vancouver, which will be a key hub for North America’s West Coast.

“This expansion was a strategic decision to meet our growing customer needs. Our retail partners realize that, through our truly vertical integrated business model, they can be confident in the quality, freshness, taste, and customer service, whether the produce originates from Mexico, United States or Canada,” said Carlos Visconti, the chief operating officer of Red Sun Farms.

Golden Fresh Farms, a Canadian-based division of Red Sun Farms, operates its newly built $22.5 million, 20-acre greenhouse about an hour north of Dayton near Interstate 75 and U.S. 33. The high-tech hydroponic greenhouse operation that could be North America's largest when fully built is now growing more than 200,000 tomatoes plants in Wapakoneta.

The Ohio distribution center is capable of delivering fresh produce anywhere within a 10-hour travel radius.
