'Must be Mexican' Burger King sign draws heat online

Burger King is taking heat after a photo of their sign advertising jobs for "Mexicans only" was recirculated this week.

The incident happened this past summer in Ephrata, a small central Washington town. The company said a disgruntled worker at the franchise location put up the message, "Now hiring. Must be Mexican." It was taken down after others saw it.

"We have been informed by the franchisee that immediate actions were taken to terminate the employee responsible," a statement from Burger King read, given Wednesday to Latina.com. "(Burger King Corp.) has a long history of dedication to diversity and inclusion. Diversity is a driving force behind both our innovation and an inclusive environment for our people -- employees, franchisees, suppliers and restaurant guests alike."

Despite the apology, a photo of the sign has sparked dozens of angry comments to the company's Facebook page.
