With the holiday shopping season kicking into high gear, there are some shoppers out there in the greater Springfield area who might be wondering where they can find unique gifts off the beaten path.
Here are five places where you might be able to dig up something special for the ones you love.
1. Champion City Guide & Supply
This shop located at the intersection of Main and Spring streets in downtown has everything Springfield. It arose from a partnership with the Chamber of Greater Springfield back in 2012. It features everything from apparel to knicknacks to locally produced goods.
A lot of the merchandise draws from local history and famous people from the area, so if your someone special loves Springfield, there’s a high chance you’ll find the perfect gift for them here.

2. Fair Trade Winds
Fair Trade Winds, located at 36 N. Fountain Ave. in Springfield, focuses on products created with the global environment in mind.
The store sells a wide variety of items, including apparel, jewelry and home decor that have all been produced by artisans in a fair trade environment and are made with sustainable materials. They also sell a line of unique Christmas cards in case you were wanting to send out something a little different this year.

3. Heart of Country at Teaberries
If your special someone lives with their heart in the country, this shop might have been made for them. The Heart of Country, located at 1600 E. Leffel Lane in Springfield, has a wide range of items for sale to appeal to those found of the farmhouse lifestyle.
Woodwork merchandise, home decor, candles, and handmade soaps and lotions are only a few of the things they have to offer. Best of all, if all your holiday shopping works up an appetite, the Teaberries restaurant is right next door.

4. Oxner’s General Store
Looking for something with a history? Oxner’s General Store, located at 15 Monument Square in downtown Urbana, may have just what you need.
The shop focuses on antiques and unique vintage finds collected by owners Michael and Mary Manoloff over the years. It features two floors of goods to browse, as well as a collection of jewelry that was more recently produced.
5. Winan’s Chocolates + Coffees
For the chocolate or coffee lover on your list, there’s not many places better than Winan’s to find them the perfect gift.
The Springfield location, located at 32 N. Fountain Ave. in Springfield, offers dozens of chocolate treats that are perfect for any sweets lover. The business was also recently named one of the best sweets shops in Springfield, so you’re nearly guaranteed to find something they’ll enjoy. If the options are too overwhelming, there’s always gift cards to provide a nice backup.
