Troy deli, nearby wine bar close
TROY — Dagwood’s Deli, 1741 W Main St., and Cork-N-Vine, a wine bar around the corner in the strip shopping mall at 1737 W Main St., have closed.
“A lot of it had to do with the economy,” said Angela Crespo, who co-owned the two Troy businesses.
Of the wine bar, Crespo said, “I tried to hold onto it as long as I could … I love the area, love the people — our regulars were great.”
Crespo said she couldn’t comment in detail about the businesses because of legal issues, but she said there is a “possibility of Cork-N-Vine reopening sometime in the future.”
The Troy Cork-N-Vine’s closing has no impact on the Cork & Vine Wine Market & Lounge at 3452 York Commons Blvd. near Miller Lane in northern Montgomery County, according to Shawn Grow, who is co-owner of the Butler Twp. business and was involved initially with the Troy wine bar.

I live in North Carolina and visit friends in Troy. I always looked forward to eating at Dagwood’s. It’s a shame, best sandwichs ever.By Just me

We greatly miss the Troy Cork N Vine. We were there literally the night they opened - and almost every weekend until they closed. Troy’s location was great, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. I so miss having a place to hang out with friends, get a unique and WONDERFUL martini or a glas of wine I really would love to see them re-open!We stopped into the Miller Lane location once and didn’t get the feeling that you could relax d enjoy yourself there.By Two Trojans

There aren’t enough good things to say about Dagwood’s. It really was like Cheers, only real. The food was GREAT, the staff were accomodating and knowledgeable, and the beer selection was outstanding. We (REALLY) almost cried when we found out they closed. We hope they re-open in downtown Troy. Dagwood’s couldn’t help but succeed there! We would make sure of it.By Joe

Dagwood’s was great. It would have been better if they could have opened in a downtown Troy location instead of in a plaza where very little business ever succeeds. Bring it back and put it downtown!By troy

I went to both places for my last birthday. It was great! It’s a shame they closed. Isn’t this old news? They’ve been closed for a while now.By R J..Miamisburg, Oh

Can’t say a thing about the Troy local, but should you want wine advice, or just lots of wine, go to Jungle Jims in Fairfield. If they don’t have it on hand, then it isn’t made.Plus they have a deli in the store. Go some Sat and you will see what I mean, plus wine samples for 10 cents.By NMontCo

Me, You really want a good wine place other than The Little Store, check out Market Wine in Downtown Dayton. That guy knows his stuff and the food is awesome! Customer Service is great too.By Ted

Not surprised. Seems the owner took on too much too soon before realizing there wasn’t a decent fan base. A lot was spent on decor but one day I was there a couple of “bill” collectors came around and the staff “didn’t” know how to get ahold of the owner…Food wasn’t all that great and staff wasn’t too organized…Not impressed..By JM

It is a shame that Troy Cork-N-Vine has closed I would rather make the drive to Troy where you felt welcomed. I loved the staff and it was a great place to sit and relax. You will be greatly missed.By GA

Just wanted to say the Troy wine bar was nothing like Butler Twp. ship they were always attentive and well versed in wine talk. It was always an atmosphere that was warm and inviting. It was like our midwest hometown “Cheers” everyone knew your name. I will miss it dearly.By mustangmike_50

The Dagwood’s Deli was the best ever! Great drinks, and the pizza was delish! Their slaw was to die for, wish I had their recipe! They had the best ever sandwiches, too, I will miss them! I went there a couple of times a month.By ME

I have never been to the Troy location but if it is anything like the Butler Twp location it is not a surprise. The Butler Twp location has unfriendly staff and the food is lack luster. No one will even approach you as your shopping for a bottle of wine to offer suggestions or help. After a few trips there I now stick to the going to the Little Store.
