Italian restaurant to expand to second location

The Kettering Italian Oven has opened a second location inside Talegator’s, 6270 Far Hills Ave., according to the owners of both establishments.

Italian Oven owner Rick Feltner said the original restaurant that opened in 2004 at 4654 Wilmington Pike will remain open as he expands into the kitchens of Talegators in Centerville. Talegators co-owner Dave Ulrich said the Italian Oven’s menu was a good fit for his sports bar-restaurant’s customers. Talegators’ food service had been provided by Pietro Mauro’s Italian Deli, which moved to Talegators in early 2008.

The Italian Oven specializes in pizza, subs and baked pasta dishes such as lasagna and spaghetti. It has added bar-food items such as wings and potato skins for the Talegators location, and also offers a kids’ menu that includes “healthy-choice” side dishes such as salads and applesauce, Feltner said.

Talegators is open for dinner seven days a week, and for lunch six days a week. It is closed for lunch on Monday. For more information, call (937) 424-4858.

They may be a mess, but those Thai wings are the best wings around! I hope they stay in business just for the sake of those!!!

Yum!! The Italian Oven had the best hot subs for delivery…one of the small great things I experienced while living in south Dayton.

Listen up: to get the good Italian food in Dayton, go to DiSalvo’s Deli & Italian Store, right next to Mama DiSalvo’s Restaurante. It has fresh marinara, meatballs, pasta, the BEST subs (hot and cold) with Boars Head meat, lasanga, pizza (to go, delivery, or pick up), salads. NOt to mention, it’s AUTHENTIC. These people are upstanding and would do anything for anyone!! Go there. It’s on Stroop Rd.

Talegators is a joke of a sports bar. The average age is about 60 (even on the weekends) and the TV’s are all small and out-dated. Many, many times the beer tastes like metal and the waitresses are usually too busy hanging out to provide adequate service. The last thing Talegators needs to be worried about is the food!

Pietros had absolutely no business in a sports bar, literally. If I go to a bar I don’t want to have to pay $15 just to get something to eat. I welcome this move.

I go to Talegators for Tuesday night Trivia. The drinks and appetisers are OK, but nothing to write home about. But the trivia is fun.

I agree that if you want the real deal you must go to Mama DiSalvo’s. My husband I went there on our first date 18 years ago. We love it! We moved down to Franklin Ohio and we need no special reason to drive up and get carryout. I wish Mama would open a second location in Springboro just for me!!!!

..Tailgators…Pietro Mauro….Italian Oven….what?!?! I’m soooo confused! (A sports bar with Italian somethingerothers in the kitchen…wtf??). Whatever. All I know is we were just there the other night with the $25 Restaurant.com certs that cost us, like, $8. The baked spaghetti in a tin foil thingy (what’s up with that?? At least bake it in a crockware bowl, for the love of Pete) was a 1/2 inch of average spaghetti covered with over a solid inch of mzrla cheeze, and the tater skins were like what you get at Sam’s Club. However, the WINGS were indeed awesome. HUGE wings like turkey-on-steroid wings, meaty, lightly coated, with HOT (but not blistering) sauce were the best I’ve had in this area. Much more substantial than Fricker’s, Dlbday’s, etc. Very, very good wings. I will go back for those. Yeah, TV’s need to be updated. Airhead waitress was as confused as me about the new menu - had to ask ME questions about what was on the menu. Oh yeah - the salad…AWESOME dressing, but it was like they made up all the salads with dressing on them then stuck them in the fridge. Soggy/wilty/gross lettuce with wonderful dressing. At least apply it JUST before serving (plus, it was REEEEEALLY cold - hurt my teeth!!). Did I mention the WINGS were orgasmic? They really are great wings.
