Miller Lane restaurant reopens after morning fire

Butler Twp. firefighters helped extinguish a small fire at the Red Lobster restaurant at 6500 Miller Lane this morning, Dec. 3.

A Butler Twp. fire dispatcher said the fire apparently started in or near a steamer in the restaurant’s kitchen. Employees summoned firefighters after they were unable to extinguish the fire themselves, the dispatcher said.

Although no damage estimate or cause was immediately available, the dispatcher said the fire appeared to be minor. Wendy Spirduso, a spokeswoman for the Orlando, FL-based chain, said the Red Lobster reopened for business at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Spirduso said there is no indication the fire was related to Red Lobster’s new wood-fired grills, about which Taste posted an entry just a couple of hours ago on Wednesday morning.

Oh yes, lets hope it burns to the ground and puts dozens of people out of work, maybe even injures or kills a few people as well. What a great thought to post, especially at Christmas time.

I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Red Lobster, that place totally blows.

That’s too bad. Hopefully they can reopen soon. While it’s not a Bonefish or McCormack & Schmick’s, RL is a decent family place and priced well for those of us with small kids. My son LOVES the biscuts, btw.

Wow, some of you need to take a pill. If you don’t like the place don’t go there. Why write such mean spirited things?

Why write such things? Because they find it funny when people like you respond.

Red Lobster is for people who have never been to the coast and had real fresh seafood. Glad to hear that no one was hurt.

Why does DDN even have a comment section for this article? Or for any?!? If you don’t like Red Lobster, shut your mouth and keep quiet. Whatever happened to…if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all. I am so tired of the negativity that comes out of some Dayton folks. You should be ashamed.

Well, gosh darn it, lobsters have feelings too!!! Imagine how that butter covered lobster feels knowing that he/she/it is being maligned!!! Actually, the food would taste better at Red Lobster if the building was allowed to burn down, thus cooking the food in the process, and it would have a slight “smoky” taste. I’d eat that over what I normally have experienced there. Red Lobster is like Forest Gumps statement about “a box a’ choklats”…..

WHEN I FIRST MOVED OUT HERE IN 1980 FROM NORWALK CONN,I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT RED LOBSTER WAS? I USED TO GO TO THE ONE ON SALEM AVE,I WOULD GO THERE EVERY WEEKEND, SOMETIMES I WOULD EAT IN OUR CARRYOUT.I ENJOY EATING AT RED LOBSTER.I AM SORRY THAT IT CAUGHT ON FIRE,AT LEAST ONE GOTTEN HURT.THIS RESTAURANT DOES ALOT OF BUSSINESS.THE PEOPLE WHO WORK HAVE FAMILIES TO TAKE CARE OF. THE FIRE COULD OF BEEN ALOT WORST. GOD HAS AWAY OF WATCHING OVER US.SOME PEOPLE DON’T LIKE RED LOBSTER AND THAT ALRIGHT,EVERYONE HAS A CHOICE WHERE THEY WANT TO HAVE EAT AT. ALL I HAVE TO SAY RED LOBSTER YOU ARE STILL IN MY BOOK!

Wanted to comment of Fields, but would not let me. Best of Luck to them. Off topic, but I was wondering, Mark, if you could put a list together/invite comments in regards to New Years Eve dinners around the Dayton Area. I was looking for a list, info that includes time, prices, set menus/not set menus, music, etc. I can not find a list and a quick note so establishments may post could be helpful. Thanks for any help!
