Time to panic for Wright State?

Wright State played confident and calm (for the most part) when the Raiders won 11 straight games. But now, they’ve lost three in a row:
To Valparaiso 75-73 in overtime.
So, what happened? In the first loss, it was a lack of Todd Brown. In the second, it was a lack of bench scoring. In the third, it was a lack of Vaughn Duggins. None of them completely threatening to the program.
But with the last two losses, Wright State dropped out of the No. 2 seed in the Horizon League tournament, which is not good news. Well, maybe for some. The top two seeds get two byes in the tournament and don’t play until the semifinals. But, now the WSU fans will see another home game when the Raiders host Detroit in the first round on Tuesday night.
Is all hope lost? No. Wright State can make it to the Horizon League final, where, unless something goes very wrong for Butler, the Raiders would face the Bulldogs. The game would be in Indianapolis, which is not good, but it’s not impossible. Especially if the players know they have to win the game to get into the NCAA tournament (Butler won’t have the same pressure).
What does Wright State need to do? First off, simply make shots. Second, keep Brown and Duggins heavily involved throughout. Scottie Wilson has shown he can make a big shot, but he doesn’t need to be the offensive focal point as Duggins and Brown do in sharing the role. Wilson is a good player and a very good rebounder, which he should continue to pursue.
The Raiders can play defense. They can get key baskets and win close games.
Starting Tuesday, we’ll see if they can make an unexpected second straight trip to the NCAA tournament. It can happen.
