State Supt. Zelman resigns
According to Local 12, Ohio schools Superintendent Susan Tave Zelman has announced she intends to resign she has held for the past nine years. Conflict arose in February when Gov. Ted Strickland proposed to seize control of the Ohio Department of Education and place it under an appointed education czar accountable to him. The move, if successful, would reduce Zelman and the 19 elected and appointed members of the State Board of Education to more advisory roles. Zelman said she will resign whenever a new superintendent starts and will work in advisory role until December.
