What do you think of the cuts

Lakota’s superintendent Mike Taylor announced the following cuts if Lakota’s levy does not pass in November. Some say they won’t be happy with cuts until the school district is forced to offer only state minimum requirements. Others, say these cuts will completely dismantle an excellent district that has been a state-wide example of success.

What do you think? Do you have other solutions? How will these cuts impact you directly?

It sucks but everyone is suffering financially thanks to our politicians. And the way funding is provided by the state is a joke. What happens to all the millions they make with the lotteries? We didn’t have that 20 years ago and seemed to do just fine. Maybe that $26Billion the feds stole from the food stamp program will help the teachers union. How can you justify raising taxes on the unemployed?

Only a portion of the $26 billion that is being mentioned in comments is for schools. Medicaid is receiving a portion of it also. And while we are at it, when a school reports that 80-85% of the budget goes for personnel costs, that includes custodians, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, aides, etc. However it seems the ones getting all the heat from the public are the teachers, and administrators. Remember, schools are a service provider. They have no raw material costs. The greatest share of their expenses will be to provide the people who perform the service. Just common logic.

I would like to know since bussing is being done away with, will the sports activities away from school provide bussing for the athletes or will they have to get there by parents the same as at school. This is a way to force the people to pass a bond issue, by blackmailing the citizens of the school district. People are being laid off and losing their jobs, but you still want more money. Publish the breakdown of all the expenses honestly and let the public decide how they want to vote with the inforation at hand - not just what they are being told
